Compare your resume to a job posting

Paste a job posting and add your resume to see which of the posting's key terms your resume already uses and which it is missing. The comparison uses fixed rules, not AI, so the same resume and posting always give the same result. No install and no account needed.

In short:To compare your resume to a job description for free, paste the posting and open your Word .docx file or paste your resume text on this page. The checker lists the posting's key terms your resume has and the ones it is missing, with a keyword overlap percentage. It needs no account, and your file is not uploaded or stored.

What happens to your file and the posting

Your browser opens the file and compares it with the posting inside this tab. The file, its text and the posting are not uploaded: this page sends no request containing them, and Crush Job keeps no copy. The result is gone when you press Clear, reload, or close the tab. If you have accepted analytics cookies, we record that a comparison ran, its match range and how many terms were found, never the file, its name, its text or the posting. Word .docx files up to 5 MB; for a PDF, or a resume that uses text boxes, paste the text instead.

How the match works

  • The checker picks out the posting's key terms: single words and short phrases such as "machine learning", with common words and filler such as "the", "strong" and "experience" left out.
  • Terms the posting uses more often, or earlier, count for more. Up to 40 terms are compared.
  • Close forms of a word count as the same term, so "managed" matches "manage", and "front-end" matches "frontend".
  • A phrase whose words are all in your resume, but not together, is marked partly there and counts for half.

It matches words, not meaning, so "led a team" and "people management" count as different terms. The percentage is a keyword overlap measure. It does not predict interviews or hiring, and it is not a score from any applicant tracking system.

Tailor your resume to each posting in Rezi Ninja

Rezi Ninja, the resume module in the Crush Job desktop app, rewrites your resume bullets for each application. Every bullet it rewrites carries a phrase taken word for word from the posting, and a rewritten bullet with no posting phrase behind it is put back as you wrote it.

Resume match questions

Is the resume match checker free?
Yes. You can compare your resume to a job posting on this page with no install, no account and no card.
Is my resume uploaded when I compare it?
No. Your browser opens the file and compares it with the posting inside this tab. The file, its text and the posting are not uploaded or stored, and the result is gone when you clear it, reload or close the tab. This applies to this page only: the AI features in the desktop app do send text to Anthropic.
How is the match percentage worked out?
The checker picks out the key terms in the posting, leaving out common words such as "the", "with" and "experience". Terms the posting uses more often, or earlier, count for more. The percentage is the weighted share of those terms that also appear in your resume, with a phrase whose words appear separately counting for half.
Does the resume match checker use AI?
No. It uses fixed rules, so the same resume and posting always give the same result. It matches words and close forms of a word, such as "manage" and "managed", not meaning.
Will a high match get me an interview?
No. It measures keyword overlap only, and Crush Job cannot promise interviews, offers or employment. Add a missing term only where it is true of your experience.
Is this an ATS resume checker?
No. An ATS (applicant tracking system) is software employers use to store and screen resumes, and each employer sets it up differently. This page does not run one, and it does not predict how any employer or system will rank your resume. It shows which of the posting's words your resume uses.
How is this different from the resume score?
The free resume score checks your resume's basics, such as contact details, section headings and dates, with no posting involved. This page compares your resume with one specific job posting.
